Scanner Pro – The HubDoc mobile app alternative for receipt upload only

If you have staff or contractors that you want to be able to submit expense receipts into HubDoc then you can use the Scanner Pro mobile app to do that.

Giving them access via the HubDoc mobile app would not only allow them to submit receipts but would also allow them to see all your documents, which you may not want. 

The Scanner Pro option allows for a one-way upload only. 

Scanner Pro is ~$4.00 in the Apple IOS App Store. If you are on Android look for a scanner app with the ability to save workflows.

Scanner Pro automatically recognizes the borders of the receipts as long as it's on a background that provides some contrast. I love this!

It allows me to preprogram a sharing workflow and I've created one that automatically emails it to my HubDoc address and at the same time uploads a copy to a Dropbox folder.

You'll also grow to love the fact that Scanner Pro does a really good job of recognizing text, the borders of the page and then saving a small, compressed file. It’s much smaller than the 2 to 3 MB image your high resolution camera will take if you just take a photo. If you take a lot of photos of documents, you'll start to notice and appreciate the difference over time. You won’t run out of space on your phone as fast.

Scanner Pro will do Optical Character Recognition but HubDoc does that automatically for all uploaded docs.

To do this you'll need your unique Hubdoc email address. It generally looks something like  hubdoc.companyname.5464gftsb@app.hubdoc.com

Steps your staff should use once workflow is created:

1. Open Scanner Pro app
2. Take photo of receipt
3. Set mode at the top to black and white document (unless color is necessary)
4. Rename document to include staff person's name and reason/billing code to help bookkeeper assign correctly
5. Tap Workflows
6. Select the workflow you created to email the image to HubDoc
7. Mail will open with the image attached, tap send
